Daley promoted in Utah

Jennifer Daley, Layton, Utah had been promoted to staff sergeant in the Davis County Sheriff's Department. She was sworn in March 17. Daley is the daughter of Irvin and Linda Daley, Coseytown.
She is a 1984 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School. She moved west in 1989 and became a dispatcher for Davis County. She graduated from the Utah State Police Academy in Salt Lake City in 1993.
Daley, 41, served as dispatcher and reserve officer until 1997. She then became the first civilian employee to become a sworn deputy. Her first position was as courtroom bailiff. After attending paramedic school she began patrol as a deputy paramedic. She also served a stint in undercover work, the first female to do so.
Daley was one of 40 eligible candidates for sergeant. Thirty applied and tested for the job. She was one of three hired and the only female.
