Greencastle players win with FCA volleyball teams

Several Greencastle volleyball players are busy with FCA teams.

Erin Garns and Sami Rudy are members of the 15U Halos, which recently won two tournament titles.

The team hosted the Mizuno/FCA 15's Invitational Tournament at Grace Academy and emerged as the champions with a 12-0 record. In pool play they swept past NVVA Loudoun 15 Red: 25-10, 25-9; MVSA 15 Rampage: 25-13, 25-18; Hub City Yellow Jackets: 25-6, 25-15; and West Shore Tornado 15's: 25-14, 25- 15, to win their net. In the Semi-finals the defeated NVVA Loudoun 15 White: 25- 21, 25-13 and went on to defeat the MVSA Rampage in a rematch 25-16, 25-18.

Garns dished out 36 assists and was named to the All Tournament Team.

Earlier in the season, Halos won its third consecutive tournament at the MVSA 15/16s in Winchester, Va., finishing with an 8-0 record, giving them 32 consecutive wins. They swept past NVVA Fairfax 16 Black 25-16, 27-25; Wild Blue 16-2 Riptide 25-17, 25-9; CCVC 15 Purple Crush A 25-8, 25-12 and Maryland Juniors 15R 25- 12, 25-22.

Garns led the offense with 32 assists and added 13 aces.

Playing on the 15U Genesis is Jenny Fisher of Greencastle.

Genesis co-hosted the Mizuno 15s finishing first on its net, but falling in the semifinals to finish third overall.

Fisher scored four points and had three kills, one block and four digs.

Genesis also played in the Kaepa Irish Fest 16s Tournament, finishing with a 3-6 record. They fell to Columbia Storm 12-25, 11-25, 22-25; defeated DE Juniors VBC Smash 15-1, 19-25, 25-23, 25-21; and fell to WACO Thunder, 23-25, 17-25, 25-22.

Fisher had 20 digs in the tourney.
