Come up with better laws I am so glad that a piece of legislation was passed to put lights on top of pizza delivery cars. Maybe now if a criminal wants to lie in wait to hold up one of these guys, he can see him coming further away. I would like to know how the government sets their priorities. For example: What's more important - the Roger Clemens steroid issue to the government spending $12 million an hour for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? Do we really care if this overpaid moron shoots himself full of steroids or the 9 billion that is uncounted for in Iraq. The U.S. has already spent enough money in these wars to pay for a college education for every man, women and child in the U.S. for the next five generations. Maybe that's why the U.S. is now 24th in the world in math scores. Maybe this is why some kids can't make change for a dollar without the cash register showing them how much to give you. I wonder? In politics, does a lack of common sense tend to have a trickle down effect? For example, the politicians in Pennsylvania have yet to come up with property tax relief after decades of talking about it. I would like to know what happened to all the new legislators that ran on a platform of change? What happened to all the campaign promises? I guess it's like every other year. Once the election is over, it's just business as usual. Once they get into office they take care of all their rich friends who helped put them there. They forget about the rest of us. Poor people are not a priority. If they were, we wouldn't need homeless shelters or soup kitchens. Big oil companies; now that's a priority! They get to make huge profits and aren't taxed nearly what they should be. Maybe that's because many politicians are invested heavily in big oil companies. Politicians say that they want to jump start the economy to keep us from going into a recession. I have an idea. Why can't people who work get gas allotments to travel to their jobs. If people didn't have to pay for gas to get to work that would free up money for people to buy other things and would help the economy. If the big oil companies are allowed to make such huge profits and are not taxed on it, then they should help the economy by giving up some free gas. Don't look for that to happen anytime soon. I'd like to see the look on the face of Exxon's CEO if he heard about the idea of giving away gas. He might just choke on his $10 cigar.
With all the problems we have going on now in our state and the nation, like the economy, housing, foreclosures, gas prices and health care, I would think our law makers could come up with better laws than making it legal to have a light on a pizza delivery car. |
