Edward A. Stahl Jr.

Edward A. Stahl Jr., 74 of Greencastle, died Monday March 3, 2008 in the Hershey Medical Center.

Born July 11, 1933 in McKeesport, the son of the late Edward A. Sr. and Dorothy J. Schaut Stahl and the widower of Joyce Turman.

Mr. Smith was a graduate of Shippensburg University with a B.A and received his masters degree from Virginia Tech University. He was a professor at Bucknell University and Pennsylvania State University, Mont Alto campus.

He was a US Marine Veteran serving from 1952-1960 and served in the US Army Reserve from 1979-1994 and retired with the rank of MSG. Edward received the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, and Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.

Mr. Smith was a member of the Marine Corps League, Chambersburg, Korean War Veterans Antietam Chapter 312, American Am Vets and was a coordinator for Toys for Tots.

He is survived by his brother, Bob Stahl, and his wife Linda, of Carlisle; two nieces, Audrey Trussell, and her husband, Duncan, of Harrisburg, and Theresa Hepler, and her husband James, of York.

He was preceded in death by a step-son, Ford Cromer.

Services were held the morning of Monday, March 10, in the Calvary Bible Church, 3845 Buchanan Trail West, Greencastle, with the Rev. Glen Miller officiating.

Burial was in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Bible Church, 3845 Buchanan Trail West, Greencastle, PA 17225.

Arrangements were handled by Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home & Crematory, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle.
