Lenten services

Lenten services will conclude at Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 N. Washington St., at 7:30 p.m. March 12 in the chapel. The focus of this year's services has been on Shadows. The theme for the final service is Shadow of Death.

Rev. Martin H. Horn is the pastor. The church facilities are handicapped accessible and the public is cordially invited to attend.

Easter drama

ST. THOMAS - St. Thomas Assembly of God Church, 173 Rhondel Dr., Drama Team will present "The Living Christ" in three performances at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 15 and at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, March 16 in the fellowship hall.

Experience the life, death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior through drama, music and mime.

Good Friday service A Good Friday Service will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Friday, March 21, at Grace Bible Church, 2327 Hoffman Road.

The theme, The Glories of the Cross, will be developed by seven area pastors: Sam Martz, Mervil Stambaugh, Ben Fisler, Bruce Dick, Bruce Gephart, Glen Miller and Greg Kell.

CHAMBERSBURG - Freedom Encounter, an Easter Musical, will be presented at Christian Life Church, 1400 Warm Spring Road, Saturday March 22 at 4 p.m. and Sunday March 23 at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.

A Community Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22 at Grace Bible Church, 2327 Hoffman Road.

Macular degeneration program

WAYNESBORO - Evangelical Lutheran Church, 43 S. Church St., will sponsor an educational program, "Age-Related Macular Degeneration" from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 18 in the chapel. The program will be presented by Jeannine Bender, RN who is on the staff of Lutheran Home Care Services.

More than 13 million Americans are affected by Age-Related Macular Degeneration. It is the number one cause of vision loss in the United States. It occurs mostly in those over age 55 and affects a person's central vision. Early warning signs, diagnostic tests and tips on living with Age-Related Macular Degeneration will be discussed.

Easter Eggstravaganza

CHAMBERSBURG - The second annual Easter Eggstravaganza will be held at Christian Life Church, 1400 Warm Spring Road, Saturday, March 22. Registration will open at 9 a.m. and the egg hunt will begin promptly at 10 a.m., entertainment will be at 11:30, and prize drawings will be held at approximately 12:30 p.m. Prizes include bikes, skateboards, scooters, and Webkinz.

Games, inflatables and the egg hunt are for children up to age 12. There will be free food for all.

The rain date is Saturday, March 29.

Thursday, March 20, Maundy Thursday Service, 7 p.m., Community Service joining the following churches: Heidelberg, Salem Lutheran Evangelical and Marion First UMC, hosted by Marion First UMC, Holy Communion and Stripping of the Altar, under the direction of Rev. Adam Leeper, Rev. Denise Horn and pastor Chris Renner.

Friday, March 21, Good Friday Service, 7 p.m., combining of Heidelberg, Marion First UMC, Marion Mennonite and Salem Lutheran Evangelical, telling the story of Jesus' crucifixion through the cantata "The Weeping Tree," written by Joseph M. Martin and sung by the Marion Community Choir, hosted at Marion Mennonite.
