Optometric office honored for eyewear style show

Greencastle Eye Care Center received national recognition and an award for its annual Fall Eyewear Style Show.

Dr. Charlie Parsons, O.D., and wife Elisa sent a synopsis of their event to a trade magazine, which included a photo of the employees and the article in a recent issue.

The couple has hosted the show at least 15 years and say customers now look forward to it.

"It's come into its own in the last couple years," said Charlie Parsons.

They invite in sales representatives from designer frame companies, such as Gucci, Dior, Coach and Lulu Gaines. The reps bring their entire repertoire, which is not all stocked in the Eye Care Center's office.

Patients come in during the evening hours, which are also normal business hours. They select frames at a discount and either have their vision checked by one of the two optometrists that night, or make an appointment for later.

"It can be quite a busy little evening," said Elisa Parsons. "Patients seem to really like it."

Greencastle Eye Care Center has been in Greencastle for 24 years and is located at John L. Grove Medical Center, 50 Eastern Ave., Suite 107. Dr. Sandra Fink-Freeman, O. D., also works at the practice.
