Wilma Jean Wenger
Mrs. Wilma Jean (Stockslager) Wenger, 77, of 8988 Hades Church Road, Greencastle, died at 10:45 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008 at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, Md.
Born Aug. 15, 1930 in Letterkenny, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Mildred (Bovey) Stockslager. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Lester and Elizabeth (Barnhart) Bovey, who also precede her in death.
Mrs. Wenger attended Greencastle High School.
She and her husband, Joel L. Wenger, were married Nov. 17, 1951 in Greencastle. They lived on Hades Church Road since their marriage.
Mrs. Wenger was employed as a seamstress by Stanley Company, Chambersburg, as a cafeteria worker for the Greencastle- Antrim School cafeteria and worked on the family diary farm for many years.
She was a member of Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church, Waynesboro, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir and participated in the Hospitality Committee.
Mrs. Wenger also served as past county president of Farm Women 4, Franklin County and as state director of Farm Bureau Farm Women's Committee.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening, flowers, sewing and time with her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Jody A. Hartman of Greencastle; three sons, Marlin L. Wenger and his wife Michelle, of Dearborn, Mich., Larson D. Wenger and his wife Marlene of Greencastle and Darwin M. Wenger of Greencastle; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Franklin Stockslager of Greencastle and Marvin Stockslager; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Charlotte Stockslager.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 in Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church, 9244 Five Forks Road, Waynesboro, with Rev. Wilbur F. Besecker officiating.
Burial will follow in Brown's Mill Cemetery, Kauffman.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20 in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington Street, Greencastle.
