Bible conference

A Bible Conference will be held at 7 p.m. Mon., Feb. 25 at Grace Bible Church, 2327 Hoffman Road, sponsored by the Fellowship of Bible Churches.

Lenten services

Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 N. Washington St., will have services every Wednesday evening during Lent. The focus of this year's services will be on Shadows. The services will be held in the church chapel on the first floor of the building at 7:30 p.m. The theme for each week is as follows: Feb. 20, Shadow of Servant Leadership; Feb. 27, Shadow of Denial; March 5, Shadow of Last Chance; March 12, Shadow of Death.

Rev. Martin H. Horn is the pastor. The church facilities are handicapped accessible and the public is cordially invited to attend.

Concert

ST. THOMAS - The Bates Family will perform in concert at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24 at the Jesus is the Light Community Church, Lincoln Highway, west of St. Thomas.

Gospel sing

CHAMBERSBURG - Letterkenny Army Depot will sponsor a Gospel Sing in commemoration of Black History Month. The public is invited to attend this Gospel Sing at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24 at Unity in Christ Church, 2175 Lincoln Way East

The annual Gospel Sing is sponsored by the Letterkenny Army Depot Special Emphasis Committee.

Middle school/junior high retreat

Camp Joy El will hold its winter Middle School/Junior High Retreat Feb. 29 through March 2.

Designed for students in grades 6 to 9, this retreat's theme is "The Broken Compass: Finding Truth in Today's World." Campers will engage in lessons and discussion on topics such as "What is truth?"; "How can you know what is true and what isn't?"; and "How do my beliefs about truth affect my beliefs about God?" Activities include group games, indoor and outdoor sports, go-karts, hiking and more.

Retreat speaker, Aaron Ziebarth, is the executive director of Joy El Ministries and has served in that role for the past five years. He has a passion for teaching God's Word, memorizing scripture and discipling youth. Aaron lives in Greencastle with his wife Stephanie and their three children.

Missions conference

HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Mountain View Baptist Church, 12107 Walnut Point Road, will hold its annual missions conference nightly at 7 Sunday, March 2 through Wednesday, March 5. Sunday services will be at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m.

Guest speakers will include Dr. Gardiner Gentry, missionary to Malawi, Africa, and Toru Marshall, founder/executive director of National Outreach Worldwide from Iron Station, N.C. Missionaries from Myanmar, Cambodia, Philippines and Australia will also be speaking.

Weekend healing retreat

A "Weekend Healing Retreat " for women who have experience the loss of a child through abortion will be held Friday, April 11 through Sunday, April 13. This event is sponsored by Pure Grace 101, the Post Abortion Ministry of Pregnancy Ministries, Inc. Pre-registration is required and space is limited. All contacts are strictly confidential.

Elementary retreats

Camp Joy El will hold two back-to-back elementary retreats March 7 to 9.

Parents can register their children for one overnight retreat as a way of introducing younger children to the camping experience.

Designed for students in grades 2 to 5, the retreat theme is "Adventure Express." Activities will include Bible teaching times, group games, Go-Karts, floor hockey, mini-golf, and much more. The first retreat begins Friday at 6:30 p.m. and ends Saturday at 4:30 p.m. The second retreat begins Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and ends Sunday at 4:30 p.m.

The retreat registration cost is $31.75. Parents can register their children online over Camp Joy El's website at www.joyel.org

Health Ministry training

CHAMBERSBURG - Lutheran Social Services of South Central Pennsylvania will hold a 12-hour Congregational Health Ministry/Parish Nurse training course. Congregations may send either a nurse or other members interested in promoting wholistic wellness within their church community. The classes will be held Saturday, March 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Monday evenings, April 7, 14 and 21 from 7 to 9 p.m.

The classes will be held on the campus of the Luther Ridge Retirement Community, Chambersburg and will be taught by staff of Lutheran Home Care Services, Hospice of the Good Shepherd and Lutheran Social Services.

There is no charge for this course.
