Borough hires fulltime officer With a quorum present at a special meeting Monday, the Greencastle Borough Council hired another fulltime police officer. Preston Strayer was promoted from parttime to fulltime status. He has been an officer in Greencastle for over two years. The fulltime position will take effect once he passes the required physical and psychological exams, according to borough manager Ken Womack. Strayer, 42, is currently also a parttime police officer in Chambersburg and was a chief deputy sheriff for Franklin County. Council members Charles Eckstine, Paul Schemel, Duane Kinzer, Harry Foley and Craig Myers hosted the Feb. 18 meeting for residents affected by the Allison Street improvements. |
