Maurice Sollenberger Martin Maurice Sollenberger Martin, 84, of 12341 Huyett Lane, Hagerstown, Md., died at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2007 in his home. Born Sept. 11, 1923 in Clear Spring, Md., he was the son of the late Daniel S. and Mary (Sollenberger) Martin. He and his late brother were former owners of the Martins Food Market in Hagerstown. He had also operated several other businesses in the local area. Mr. Martin was a member of the Hagerstown Mennonite Fellowship Church and became an ordained minister of the church in May 1969. He also served as the administrator of the Mennonite Fellowship Home of Hagerstown for a number of years. He and his wife, Naomi M. (Hege) Martin were married April 7, 1943 in Hagerstown. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Lois H. (husband of Norman) Horst of Hagerstown, Ella Mae (husband of Elam) Weaver of Shippensburg and Velda (husband of Asad) Ghattas of Hagerstown; two sisters, Anna Eby of Hagerstown and Rebecca Lehman of Chambersburg; two brothers, James S. Martin of Hagerstown and Silas S. Martin of Oregon; 21 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Menno A. Martin. Services were held the mornign of Friday, Jan. 25 in Reiff Mennonite Church near Cearfoss, Md. with the Mennonite Fellowship Church Ministry officiating. Burial was in the Hagerstown Mennonite Fellowship Church Cemetery. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions may be given to the charity of one's choice.
