Arestaurant in a car dealership? There is now.
The Cafe at Antrim Way opened Jan. 3 in the newly expanded Antrim Way Honda at 200 S. Antrim Way. By Jan. 21 manager Lori Bartles was training an assistant to help her with the food service responsibilities.
The cafe was the idea of Greg Weaver, Vice President of Antrim Way Honda. By chance he met Bartles, a kitchen designer and former owner of a cafe in Harper's Ferry, WV.
The conversation ended with him hiring her.
"We decided it was a match made in heaven," said Bartles.
The two finished designing the facility together. Bartles created most of the menu, which includes appetizers, salads, sandwiches (named after Honda cars), desserts and a kids' menu. Drinks range from juices and tea to specialty coffees and fruit smoothies.
She does serve some of the Weaver family recipes, including Grandma Weaver's chocolate sauce and Greg's con queso dip.
"The dip recipe that he is famous for is our number one-selling product," said Bartles.
Seating is comprised of three tables, a bar counter and the lounge area for regular business customers. The cafe is open to the public as well as to customers waiting for their vehicles. The dealership continues to offer free coffee and hot tea to service customers.
