Greencastle Notary Services has opened a second office in Fulton County.
Owners Lori Barnes and Melinda Cordell opened Mc- Connellsburg Notary Services in November 2007. It is situated on the borough's main intersection at 102-A Lincoln Way West.
Noelle Ott, Chambersburg, is employed fulltime at the new office, with Barnes and Cordell alternating days there as well. Barnes' father, Ronald Miller, is the office area messenger. He hand carries documents to Harrisburg twice weekly.
The two locations offer a wide variety of services, including titles, tags, registration renewals and messenger service.
Both offices are open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Phone numbers are 717-987-3000 in Mc- Connellsburg and 717-597- 3600 in Greencastle.
Cordell noted that they have had setbacks establishing both sites.
"Bad luck follows us," she said.
They had planned to work out of the Old Town Hall in Greencastle, but it burned down Jan. 26, 2006, the day before they were to move in their equipment. They are pleased with their current location at 38 E. Baltimore St.
In early January 2008 a tractor-trailer took a sharp turn at the intersection of Routes 22 and 30 and hit a light pole. The force of the blown tires also blew out the front windows of the Mc- Connellsburg office.
"Fortunately, it occurred at 6:30 p.m. and no one was in the office, or there could have been injuries," said Cordell.
But business is going on as usual for the two longtime friends. They both worked for approximately 12 years at Mason-Dixon Auto Auction.
