Hazel M. Sellers
Hazel M. (Bowders) Sellers, 92, a resident of Penn Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, and formerly of 120 E. Baltimore St., Greencastle, died at 8:26 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, in the nursing home. She had been in failing health for the past four months.
Born Sept. 8, 1915 in Antrim Township, she was the daughter of the late Harry C. and Alice Marie (Potter) Bowders. She was a life long resident of the Greencastle area.
She and her husband, the late Wilbur R. "Wib" Sellers, were married Sept. 16, 1932, in Hagerstown, Md. They had lived on East Baltimore Street for more then 70 years. Mr. Sellers died April 3, 1996.
Mrs. Sellers owned and operated Green Castle Antiques for over 35 years, retiring in May 1987. She continued to have a booth at the Greencastle Antique Mall until June 1995.
She was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ, Greencastle, the Greencastle Senior Women's Club, Loyal Daughters, National AARP, Silver Star Saddle Club, Greencastle and a local garden club.
Mrs. Sellers enjoyed spending time with her family, antiques, gardening, attending public sales, horses and bird watching.
She is survived by two daughters, Ruth M. Coldsmith of Greencastle, and her husband Don A. Coldsmith, and Mary Ann Myers of Greencastle, and her husband Loren R. Myers; four granddaughters, Melanie S. Bellissimo of Harrisburg, Laurie J. Schwing of Hershey, Kelly A. Citara of Newtown and Tracy N. Bartlett of Greencastle; eight greatgrandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Bowders and Robert Woodring; and an infant sister, Alice Belle Bowders.
Services were held the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 23 in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle with Pastor James Hughes and Rev. Robert Keener, officiating.
Burial followed in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
