Support will help find cure for diabetes

Recently, a number of area businesses and organizations donated goods and services to help make our Scrapbooking Crop to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) a success. We netted $1,000, which will be sent to the JDRF.

Several years ago my two nephews, who were 18 months and 3 years old, were diagnosed with Type I Juvenile Diabetes. Juvenile Diabetes is one of the fastest growing childhood diseases. No one knows what the long term effects of diabetes will be on their health. A year ago they were also diagnosed with Celiacs Disease, a gluten intolerance, which affects many children with Type I Juvenile Diabetes. Diabetes researchers are aggressively seeking a cure and every dollar or less invasive treatments to help thousands of children with this disease.

On behalf of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, my family, children afflicted with diabetes and Close to My Heart, I want to thank the following businesses for their support: Big Lots, Butcher Shoppe, Central Presbyterian Church, Food Lion Store 1527, Gateway To Memories, Giant Store 443, Photo Gem in Greencastle, Michael A. Starr Insurance, Pizza Hut, Scrapmania, Subway Sandwiches and Salads, and Sunnyway Foods. Your generosity is deeply appreciated.
