Advent series

The Greencastle Presbyterian Church will host the following advent programs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the church, 57 W. Baltimore St., on each of the following Monday evenings:

Nov. 26 - Advent Series-Shepherds: This week's focus will explore how the shepherds heard the news of Emmanuel's birth and seek inspiration from their response.

Dec. 3 - Advent Series-Angels: Our emphasis will be on how the angels came as God's messengers, announcing the coming of Emmanuel to his parents and to the whole world.

Dec. 10 - Advent Series-Magi: This evening our discussion will focus on the magi, mysterious visitors from the East, who came seeking Emmanuel- one who was born to be King of the Jews.

Dec. 17 - Advent Series-Emmanuel: Gathering round the manger to greet the long-expected one: Jesus, our Emmanuel. Thinking about home and homing and explore what it means to live in the presence of God.

All are invited.

Musical drama

MARION - The nationally known Christian musical drama group, The Jeremiah People, will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23 at the Marion Mennonite Church Worship Center, 4365 Molly Pitcher Highway.

For 30 years, The JEREMIAH PEOPLE have been sharing the Gospel of Christ through drama and music to people all over the United States and Canada, performing in theaters, churches, and universities.

The presentation will last approximately one and a half hours. There will be no admission charge, however, a free-will offering will be taken to help defray the cost of the concert.

Living Christmas tree

NEWBURG - The Green Spring-Newburg First Churches of God 60-voice choir will present the 33rd annual Living Christmas Tree at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 29, 30, Dec. 1 and 2 with an additional presentation at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2 at the Newburg First Church of God, 260 Newburg Road.

The presentation is free. A free-will offering will be accepted. For information, call 423-6279.

Elementary retreats

WILLIAMSON - Camp Joy-El will hold two back-to-back elementary retreats Nov. 30 through Dec. 2.

Designed for students in grades 3 to 6, the retreats' theme is "Exploration Island: Discovering the Fruit of the Spirit." Activities will include Bible teaching times, group games, Go-Karts, floor hockey, mini-golf, and much more. The first retreat begins Friday at 6:30 PM and ends Saturday at 4:30 p.m. The second retreat begins Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and ends Sunday at 4:30 p.m.

Anna Lee Kopp will be the speaker. Anna Lee has been a missionary with CEF and a school teacher in the Greencastle-Antrim School District. She has been teaching the Word of God to students for over 39 years.

Christmas cantata

HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The Choir and Drama Group of Mountain View Baptist Church will present the Christmas cantata, The Lamb of Bethlehem, at 7 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 8 and 9 at the church, 12107 Walnut Point Road.

The children will present the musical www.christmasonline.com at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16.

Christmas production

HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Free tickets are now available online for the annual Christmas production of Tri-State Fellowship. An encore performance of the dramatic musical "Four Tickets to Christmas" will be presented at 7 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 29 to Dec. 2 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2.

To obtain tickets go to www.tristatefellowship.org and click on "Christmas tickets." Tickets may be printed from the webpage after seats are selected, or may be obtained through the church office at 301-790-1774. Ordering tickets online is the best option because individuals may select their own seats. If ordered through the church, seating will be assigned and tickets will be held for pick-up within 3 business days.

Interpretation for the hearing impaired will be available at one performance. Please call the church office for the performance date and any additional information.

This is the 12th annual Christmas production presented by the church family of Tri-State Fellowship. The production has been in rehearsal since early September.

Tri-State Fellowship is an Evangelical Free Church located in Hagerstown, Maryland, one mile west of I-81 at exit 7-B.

ST. THOMAS - The Drama Team and Choir at St. Thomas Assembly of God Church, 173 Rhonel Dr. will present the 2007 Christmas Program, "The Three Gifts of Christmas," in two performances at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 in the fellowship hall.

There will be a free-will offering taken.

Christmas musical

CHAMBERSBURG - The Chozen Generation Children's Ministry will be performing a Christmas Musical entitled, "Miracle on Mainstreet," at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 and at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 at Christian Life Church, 1400 Warm Spring Road. Also, on Sunday morning, Dec. 9, the 2-5 year-old children will present a short program called "Someone Has A Birthday."

Everyone is welcome free of charge.

Christmas concert

CHAMBERSBURG - St. Paul Special Events will host the Chambersburg Area Senior High School Choristers and Esquires in concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 in the church nave, 750 Norland Ave.

There is no admission charge for the concert. A free-will offering will be taken. Everyone is invited to a reception following the concert.

CHAMBERSBURG - The 12th annual Thanksgiving/Christmas Dinner Concert, from Webber's Concerts and Tours will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 featuring a tribute to Anthony Burger.

Children in grades 3 to 5 are invited to come join Adventure Club Wednesdays at First United Methodist Church, 45 N. Washington St.

Worship, music, prayer and fellowship will be part of the Christian activity that will run from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m.

Book discussion group

WAYNESBORO - The Book Club Discussion Group of the Trinity United Church of Christ, 30 W. North St., invites readers of any age to join weekly discussions of various fiction and non-fiction selections at 9:15 a.m. each Sunday in the church's parlor.

The group is beginning its fall reading list with Robert Egger's Begging for Change. Other books on the fall list include Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides, Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich, and the Handbook for the Soul, Edited by Richard Carlson & Benjamin Sheild.

The entire book list is not yet final, but other books under consideration for the year include Mark Lilla's The Stillborn God: Religion, Politics, and the Modern West, James Michener's The Source, and James Fowler's Stages of Faith: The Psychology of Human Development and the Quest for Meaning.

New schedule

Effective Sunday, Sept. 2, Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 N. Washington St., returned to 9:30 a.m. for Sunday School and 10:45 a.m. for the Worship Service. A Service of Holy Communion is held on the first Sunday of every month. The Saturday evening informal Holy Communion remains the same time of 5:00 p.m. each Saturday. Rev. Martin H. Horn is pastor. The church is handicapped accessible. Visitors are cordially invited to attend.

Additional service

Tri-State Fellowship, an Evangelical Free Church, 13153 Cearfoss Pike, is offering an additional Sunday service. The new service, called The Bridge, starts at 11 a.m. This service is designed to connect today's generation with future generations and will feature progressive and energetic worship as well as varied elements to engage the worshiper in a multi-sensory worship experience.

Tri-State Fellowship also offers two Sunday services at 9:15 a.m.: Classic Tri-State, featuring an informal atmosphere and contemporary worship. The Heritage Café also meets at 9:15 a.m., in the Café rooms, and features hymns and vintage choruses and interactive sharing followed

by a live video telecast of the sermon from the Classic service.

Free meal

The Antrim Assembly of God, 11192 Bemisderfer Road, will have a free meal in its fellowship hall on the first Wednesday of each month. The meal will begin at 6 p.m.
