Season being ruined

In the last three to four years my fall Halloween lawn ornaments are being stolen. My neighbor says they have been having things disappear from their front porch in the last two to three years; also, not to mention having plants disappear from around their home.

I enjoy decorating for the fall season and enjoy treating Trick or Treaters, but lately with my lawn ornaments being stolen, the fun has gone out of it. Whoever is doing this, be it the young or the older, I will not continue to treat the Trick or Treaters. Neither I or my neighbor treated this year due to the thefts. Halloween lawn ornaments are not cheap. The one that was most expensive was stolen last year. I'm quite sure that my neighbors things are not cheap either. Today, nothing is cheap any more.

People always made a special effort to just see my house during the Trick or Treat time with their children. This they had told me. They just love what I do every year. They often tell me how beautiful my place is and love what I do to it. Thanks to all of you and your compliments. Old homes can be a never-ending chore to take care of.

To those that are doing the thefts. Just remember you are making it "not so fun" for the wee little ones, or the little first time goers. Today there might be one house per block that is treating the children. Well, this is one of the reasons. You are causing the Trick or Treat night to come, eventually, to an end. It will be a thing of the past if the thefts keep up. This is not only in your town, but others as well.

Parents talk to your young ones and teens, let them know of the consequences of their poor choices and acts. Let's try and keep our towns and holidays fun and enjoyable. To those that go out and do these thefts, especially if it is the young kids, remember, some day you will grow up and have a family with small wee ones, and you will decorate your homes and lawns only to have your things stolen. Are you going to be happy about it? No, hardly. What goes around, comes around.
