An event sponsored by the Greencastle-Antrim Lioness Club has become another tradition eagerly awaited by area residents. Their Christmas Bazaar has been popular for a decade or so, and will again offer a wide variety of food and handmade items from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Rescue Hose Company Special Events Center, 407 S. Washington St.
Admission is free. Bazaar chair Julie Wesley says over 20 vendors will be present, offering a variety of handcrafted wares. The 70- member club will also sell baked goods, Virginia peanuts, soups for takeout, and have a tasting table and drawings for gifts.
Visitors are invited to come hungry.
"We have great ham and bean soup, vegetable soup, chicken and beef pot pie, lots of pie and cake for desserts, hot dogs, steamers, and of course, those great apple dumplings," said Wesley. "Come early to get the best selection."
The club is a sidearm of the Lions Club, and as a non-profit organization, raises money for several causes.
"All the money we make is given back to the community," said Lioness president Mary Witmer.
They support the Diabetes Foundation, cancer research, Leader Dog for the Blind, and vision screening at the local schools, as well as other health causes. They donate money to the playground, and are active in Heritage Christmas and Old Home Week.
