Eagles eliminated from playoffs

MERCERSBURG - The mid-varsity and varsity Eagles participated in the Keystone Youth Football League playoffs Saturday, Oct. 27.
The mid-varsity Eagles faced the Scotland Broncos for the chance to move on to the next level. The Eagles held firm until the final 32 seconds of the game when the Broncos were finally able to break the plane of the end zone to tie and then punched in the PAT to make the final score 13 - 12, Scotland.
Kareem Aiken ran for 132 yards and both Eagle touchdowns. Timi Tijani had 30 yards rushing and Eugene Byers and Cody Thompson contributed 12 yards each. Bailey Parker led the Eagle defense with six tackles. Kyle George had five followed with four a piece by Aiken and Byers. Cody Thompson had three tackles while Adam DeYoung, Tijani, Casey Bell and Jeremy Anderson had two each. Sam Sprague, Kyren Jefferson, Graham Horst and Garrett Conner had a tackle each. Aiken also recovered a Bronco fumble.
The varsity Eagles also took on the Scotland Broncos and were defeated 33-0. Aaron Bumbaugh had 62 yards rushing for the Eagles. Joshua Young ran for 30 yards and hauled in a short pass from quarterback Holden Baker for the offense. Stephen Ernharth had six tackles for the Eagle defense. Baker, Bumbaugh and Isaac Lauffer had four tackles each. Patrick Bontrager, Brady Keller, Young and Tyler Appleby had three tackles a piece. Wade Rider added a quarterback sack to the defensive effort. Alec Waddelow and Zack Rodeheaver had a tackle each.
