Thanks for support in life-saving mission On behalf of the Franklin/Fulton Division Board of Directors, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Heart Walk committee, volunteers, event sponsors, team leaders, walkers, in-kind donors and the many individual and business contributors who financially supported the American Heart Association's Sept. 23 Heart Walk, presented nationally by Subway, Healthy Choice and AstraZeneca and presented locally by the Barmont Bryner Family. We would like to recognize Event Chairman John Boozer of Franklin Advisory for the leadership he brought to this event, which netted over $128,000. We also extend a special note of thanks to Billie Jo Reed who served as our Red Cap Spokesperson, representing the many heart and stroke survivors of Franklin and Fulton counties. Our appreciation also goes to the Greencastle- Antrim School District for permitting us the use of the elementary school grounds for our Start/Finish location. Dollars raised through the Heart Walk will enable the American Heart Association to continue building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke, the number 1 and number 3 causes of death in Franklin and Fulton counties. Funding from events like the Heart Walk help support our priority programs including Go Red for Women (women and heart disease), Alliance for a Healthier Generation (childhood obesity), Power to End Stroke (stroke awareness), Start! (our latest movement to create a culture of physical activity in our local communities) and public advocacy. Congratulations go to the following $1,000+ walkers and top five teams for their outstanding support of the Heart Walk: Janet Crider, Paul Wroten, Nathan Green, Janet Smith, Diann Jones, Bonnie Bruck, Barry Drexler, Audra Miller, Ariana Geesaman, Kay Hite, Greg Ocker, Diane Geyer, Steve Hornbaker and Terri Pine; Citi Team, Benjamin's Team, Menno Haven Retirement Communities Team, The First National Bank of Mercersburg Team, and Penn National Team. We are gratified by the public's generous support. Thank you for helping the American Heart Association continue its important lifesaving mission. Rochelle D.
