Helen A. Rowland

Helen A. (Myers) Rowland, 92, formerly of Middleburg, Md., currently a resident of Homewood Nursing Home, Williamsport, Md., died at 11:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007 at the nursing home.

Born Aug. 31, 1915 in Middleburg, she was the daughter of the late Aaron S. and Leila (Hartle) Myers. She was a life long resident of the State Line area. She entered Homewood in January 2003.

She graduated from Greencastle High School with the Class of 1934.

She and her husband, Charles B. Rowland, were married Sept. 6, 1935 in Greencastle. Mr. Rowland died May 29, 1989.

Mrs. Rowland was employed as the Postmaster for the State Line Post Office, State Line, Pa. for 18 years before retiring in 1979.

She was a life-long member of Trinity United Church of Christ, State Line, where she served as the pianist for many years, served on church consistory and was a member of Willing Workers.

Mrs. Rowland enjoyed crocheting, bowling, and was a fan of the Baltimore Orioles.

She is survived by two sisters, Edna Kershner and Ethel Rathbone, both of State Line.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Emma B. Brumbaugh.

Services were held the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 31 in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Ed Higginbottom officiating.

Burial followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
