Voters go to polls Nov. 6

Voters will head to the polls next Tuesday for the general election, and all eyes are on the Franklin County Commissioner race. Two of the three current commissioners did not run for re-election. When Cheryl Plummer and G. Warren Elliot stepped aside last spring, it opened the door for a number of interested politicians.

The primary election winnowed the field of 12 candidates to four. Republican incumbent Bob Thomas led the pack in voter support, and joins Republican David Keller and Democrats Cheryl Stearn and Bob Ziobrowski in seeking the three seats. However, voters may vote for not more than two.

Locally, only Antrim Township has contested races. Democrat John Alleman and Republican Rick Baer are after the six-year supervisor term. Democrat Justin M. Lahaza and Republican J. Brian Kirkpatrick seek the six-year Auditor position.

Fred Young III is on the ballot for a two-year term on the Board of Supervisors, filling the vacancy of Robert Whitmore, who resigned midterm.

Greencastle borough offices have as many candidates are there are seats, or even less. No one is running for the two-year council seat or the four-year Assessor position.

Three people are running for three four-year council seats, all Republicans: Nancy Dunn, Chris Grimm and H. Duane Kinzer.

Candidates for the five Greencastle Antrim School Board seats are: Democrat Paul Politis, Republicans Howard Ritchey and Kristy Faulkner, and two who cross-filed, Arnie Jansen and Eric Holtzman. The seats are for four years.

The other county offices are also fielding unopposed candidates. All cross-filed for the four-year terms. They are: William (Bill) Vandrew, Clerk of Courts; Carol Fix Diller, Controller; Jeffrey R. Conner, Coroner; John F. Nelson, District Attorney; Linda Beard, Prothonotary; Linda Miller, Register and Recorder; and Dane Anthony, Sheriff.

Six candidates are running for Judge of the Superior Court: Democrats Christine Donohue, Ron Folino and John Younge, and Republicans Cheryl Lynn Allen, Bruce F. Bratton and Jackie Shogan. Voters may vote for up to three.

Voters may vote for not more than two for Justice of the Supreme Court. The field includes Democrats Debra Todd and Seamus Mc- Caffery, and Republicans Maureen E. Lally-Green and Mike Krancer.
