October 31, 1907
The workmen on the Pure Oil Co.'s pipe line that runs through the southern part of the state passing through Antrim Township two miles south of town have advanced east as far as the Susquehanna River.
One of the balloons participating in the international race, was seen by Path Valley residents.
A largely attended meeting of the Republican county committeemen was held at the party headquarters in Chambersburg.
Union Church congregations showed their appreciation to Rev. J. B. Farrell by donation of provisions.
The Antrim Township School Board transferred Craig Small, former teacher of the Walnut Grove School, to Clay Hill.
Great progress is being made on the C. G. & W. railroad line from here to Chambersburg.

A series of nightly meetings will be held by the River Brethren in the Antrim
The County Commissioners started out this morning to distribute the ballots and other supplies for the election next Tuesday.

Greencastle people are invited to a big Republican parade and rally to be held in Waynesboro.
Complying with the request of the Frank L. Carbaugh Post 373 American Legion, Burgess D. W. Shinham is asking all business places in Greencastle to observe Armistice Day, Nov. 11 by closing for one hour from 11 a.m. to noon.
The Rescue Hose Company has started a canvass of Greencastle and the surrounding townships to secure funds to meet a payment on its new pumper.
The state will furnish aid this winter to families having children of the pre-school age.

The Antrim Township school board announced that within the past several weeks three of the township school houses have been broken into and ransacked. The board voted a substantial reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the miscreants.
A number of local youths broadcasted on Tuesday from 11:30 to noon from WJEJ, Hagerstown's new radio station. The group was known as the Royal Pirates.
Governor Pinchot reminded hunters to respect the rights of land owners.

The Republican party may have been weak statewide, but it flexed its muscles Tuesday in Greencastle-Antrim voting.
The main agenda item of the Greencastle Borough Council was fiscal matters.
The local Armco Steel Products plant officially closed its doors and is expected to remain closed for two years.
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources has put the borough of Greencastle on notice that it must seek permits for an extension of the sewer system northeast of town.
The Greencastle-Antrim Education Association prepared for its fund-raising production of "The Wizard of Oz," directed by Jim Wertner.
Seven bicentennial events were planned for November in Greencastle, beginning with a lecture and ending with a Thanksgiving flavor.
A Halloween Parade was held, sponsored by the Harry D. Zeigler Post 6319 VFW.
