The Blue Devils finished out their season on Monday at home against West Perry. They held on for much of the game but let up a second half goal to fall 2-1.
The Devils came out strong and almost got on the board first on a Roxanne Dewalt shot but it was kicked out by the goalie. The Mustangs had a nice opportunity when a striker got behind the defense but keeper Tasha Musselman kicked the ball away keeping the score 0-0. West Perry continued to attack and found the cage less than eight minutes in on a shot from the top of the circle.
Later in the half, Amanda Barnes made a key defensive stop on a Mustang drive. Greencastle held on to go into the half down 1- 0.
The Blue Devils came out of the half with lots of intensity. Kristi Fisher rocketed a shot early in the half that was deflected off target. The Mustangs attacked getting deep in G-A territory and earned a few penalty corners. The defense did their job to eventually clear the ball and the Devils got the ball in West Perry territory.
Breton Carlson made a cross after a penalty corner that was trapped by the goalie. Dewalt was awarded a penalty stroke and she took advantage of the opportunity by lifting it into the top corner past the goalie.
The Devils just couldn't hold on however and gave up the winning goal just four minutes later on a penalty corner. G-A had a few more opportunities but couldn't tie it back up. With about five minutes to play, Sheena Koons got a shot off in a cluster of people in front of the cage but it was cleared out and the Mustangs started to drive.
Rachel Statler and Barnes did a nice job on defense to break up the drive.
Carlson made a nice stop on a cross near the cage about a minute later.
Tamara Hade, second half keeper, made an amazing diving save to keep the Mustangs from scoring.
G-A made one final drive in the last minute. However, they could not get a shot off and the ball was cleared to end the game 2-1.

Red Land found the scoreboard seven minutes into the game on a left-footed shot to the corner by Deon Rehm. Rehm converted again in the 17th minute on a give-and-go pass that got him behind the defense and he slid it past Hoover to give Red Land an early 2-0 lead. After sticking around for much of the rest of the half, the Devils let up another goal with four minutes left in the half on a free kick from 20 yards out. The half ended and the Devils trailed 3-0 and only saw the opposing half of the field a couple of times in the half.
The Devils defense brought a striker down in the box in the 53rd minute and Rehm completed his hat trick by blasting his penalty kick in on the left side. The Devils gave up their final goal after the Patriots one touched around through the defense and shot it past the keeper.
The Devils only forced the Red Land keeper to make two saves, while Hoover made eight saves in goal for G-A.
