Robert L. Barnes Sr. Robert L. Barnes Sr., 77, of 5592 Kennedy Ave., Williamson, died at 6:40 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007 in the Hershey Medical Center, Hershey. He had been in declining health since July. Born May 11, 1930 in Williamson, he was the son of the late Parker A.W. and Florence E. (Bryan) Barnes. He was self-employed in the hauling and selling of coal for over 50 years. He also worked at the former Detrich Elevator in Williamson and for 18 years at the former Seagrams Distillery in Williamson. Mr. Barnes was a member of the St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Williamson and attended Sebring Church of The Brethren in Sebring, Florida. He was a charter member of the Williamson Ruritan Club and a member of the Sebring Recreation Club. Mr. Barnes was a 1948 graduate of St. Thomas High School. He enjoyed traveling and spending the winter in Florida. He and his wife, Grace (Peiffer) Barnes were married Nov. 18, 1951 in Hagerstown, Md. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Robert L. (husband of Carolyn) Barnes Jr., Donald R. Barnes and Larry E. Barnes, all of Chambersburg; a daughter, Carol E. (wife of Joseph) Stover of Williamson; two brothers, Richard E. Barnes of Chambersburg and Barry E. Barnes of Greencastle; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy I. Cullison. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24 in the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St. Greencastle, with Pastors Alan Wilson and Vic Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle. |
