Cards are sought

The South Washington County Military Support Group is again conducting a holiday card drive. Last year nearly 59,000 cards were sent to 115 military members and their units.

Cards are being accepted through Nov. 20.

There is a local dropoff point: ELM Garage along Route 16 just outside of Greencastle, 846 Buchanan Trail East, during business hours.

Residents are also encouraged to contact the group with the name and unit address of family members currently serving in the Middle East.

Guidelines for sending greetings are as follows:

- Each card may be read by many service members.

- Cards may be homemade or store bought

- No envelopes or postage

- All cards and messages should be appropriate.

- Cards will be screened for security/sensitive issues.

- Do not send blank cards.

- May include messages of well wishes/support

- May request a pen pal.

Cards may be dropped off at ELM Garage or sent to South Washington County Military Support Group, c/o Lynn Jones, P.O. Box 223, Keedysville, Md. 21756.

For information, call Lynn Jones at 301-432-4979 or email lalollie2278@verizon.com

Donations for mailing costs, phone cards and holiday candy are needed and greatly appreciated.
