Whitetail Resort gears up for season MERCERSBURG - With the temperatures slowly dropping and the leaves changing colors, Whitetail Resort continues its preparations for the 2007-08 ski and snowboard season. Whitetail Resort is currently gearing up for the seventh annual Great Outdoors Festival and Ski Swap on Oct. 27 and 28. This year's festival promises to be one of the biggest to date. Activities for this year's festival include chairlift rides, snowmaking tours, the Penn State Timber Sports Team, various kid's activities, live entertainment, great food and much more. Avid skiers and snowboarders looking to purchase their 2007-08 season pass or Advantage card will receive free admission to the event along with a complimentary chairlift ride. Gift cards have been added to Whitetail Resort's long list of capital improvements for the 2007- 08 season. Not only will guests be able to purchase the card at the resort, they will also be able to purchase the gift card online, reload their card and check their balance up to the minute. Other improvements for the upcoming ski and snowboard season include a new Prinoth BR 350 snow groomer, additional snow gun automation, a new beginner ski and snowboard area parallel to the Velvet Trail and additional private party rooms at Whitetail Adventure Snow Tubing. Over the past four years Whitetail Resort has invested several million dollars into expanding the existing snowmaking system, giving Whitetail one of the most powerful snowmaking systems in the entire country. Last season Whitetail Resort made over 1,000 acre feet of snow and with added improvements in the off season, Whitetail will be able to make even more snow for guest skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing enjoyment. With early indications for a cold and snow filled winter in Pennsylvania, Whitetail Resort president and general manager Don MacAskill is excited for the 2007-08 season. "With our snowmaking system, we can make tons of snow in a very short time when the cold weather arrives for the enjoyment of our guests," MacAskill said. |
