John E. Wagner

John E. Wagner, 82, of 9910 Thompson Dr. Greencastle, died unexpectedly at 10:37 P.M. Sunday October 14, 2007 in the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born November 16, 1924 in Williamsburg, Pa. he was the son of the late George Edgar and Ilo Mae (Ore) Wagner.

He worked as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service having retired in 1972 after 30 years employment. He also worked at Morgan Drive Away as a dispatcher and at Nellie Fox Bowl Chambersburg.

Mr. Wagner was a life member of the Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post 6319 of Greencastle and was a member of the Franklin County Bowling Association Hall Of Fame.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Wagner enjoyed bowling, coin collecting and being with his grandchildren.

Mr. Wagner graduated from Scotland School.

He and his wife, M. Louise (Pine) Wagner were married Nov. 15, 1981.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Ronald E. Pine of Marion, Randall A. "Pork" Pine of Hagerstown, Md., John E. Wagner Jr. of Greencastle and Jamie L. Wagner of Greencastle; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18 in the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, with Rev. Jeffrey A. Ehko officiating.

Burial with military honors provided by the Chambersburg V.F.W. Honor Guard Post 1599 will be in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday where the Greencastle V.F.W. will hold a memorial service at 7:30 p.m.
