Madelyn Crunkleton Sheffler Madelyn (Grove) Crunkleton Sheffler, 90, a resident of Hearthstone Retirement Home, Waynesboro, and formerly of 59 Williamson Ave., Greencastle, died at 9:15 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007 in the Waynesboro Hospital. Born Nov. 26, 1916 in Shady Grove, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Louella (Snively) Grove. She lived her early life in the Shady Grove area. Mrs. Sheffler attended Shady Grove schools. She and her first husband, the late Charles W. Crunkleton, were married in 1935. They moved to Williamson Avenue in 1961. Mr. Crunkleton died June 6, 1970. She married her second husband, Robert Sheffler April 19, 1973. Mrs. Sheffler was a presser with Stanley Company, Chambersburg, for over 40 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Greencastle. She was also a member of the Greencastle Senior Center, National AARP and South Chapter 2977 AARP. Mrs. Sheffler enjoyed crocheting. In addition to her second husband, she is survived by one son, Donald Crunkleton and his wife Ruth of Greencastle; two stepdaughters, Shirley Seilhammer and Darlene Stone, both of Waynesboro; three step-sons, Kenneth Sheffler, Donald Sheffler and Robert L. Sheffler, all of Waynesboro; several step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Ogreta Wink of Shady Grove; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Crunkleton who died in 1965; and two sisters, Frances Wink and Belle Gearhart. Services were held the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 10 in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. James E. Hughes officiating. Burial followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
