Parenting classes

Greencastle Presbyterian Church and pastor, Rev. Darlene Kline, will be conducting parenting classes and the community is welcome to attend.

The schedule of classes is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. as follows: Oct. 8, Parenting: An Attitude of the Heart- Improving Your Attitude; Oct. 15, Parenting: An Attitude of the Heart- How to Love Your Child; Oct. 22, Parenting: An Attitude of the Heart - The Secret of Discipline; Oct. 29, Parenting: An Attitude of the Heart - Why Values Are Important.

No reservations are necessary and one or all of the sessions can be attended. Child care will be provided free of charge at the church each evening.

Parking is at the rear of the church and entrance through the Education Wing at the rear.

Adventure Club

Children in grades 3 to 5 are invited to come join Adventure Club that beings Wednesday, Oct. 3 at First United Methodist Church, 45 N. Washington St.

Worship, music, prayer and fellowship will be part of the Christian activity that will run from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m.

Anniversary banquets

CHAMBERSBURG - CROSS Inc. will celebrate its 20th anniversary with its annual banquets. The proceeds will help the residents of Grace Home, Griffith House and Cumberland Vista. Abanquet will be at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 4 at Grantham Church. The banquet is free to the public, however, registration is required.

Marriage mentors

CHAMBERSBURG - Live via satellite Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott and Dr. Tim Clinton will offer a certificate training course for marriage mentoring will be offered from 11:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 6 at Christian Life Church, 1400 Warm Spring Road.

Cost is $65 per couple. A light lunch is included.

CHAMBERSBURG - Veteran missionary Jack Belin will be the featured speaker at the 10 a.m. worship service Sunday, Oct. 7 at Christian Life Assembly of God, 1400 Warm Spring Road.

Home school retreat

WILLIAMSON - Camp Joy El will hold its annual Fall Home School Retreat Thursday and Friday, Oct. 11 and 12 for students in grades one to eight. The speaker will be longtime missionary Fred Beam.

Veteran celebration

CHAMBERSBURG - A Community Veteran's Day Celebration will be held at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11 at Christian Life Church, 1400 Warm Spring Road. All veterans and their families are invited to come, as well as the community to honor them. Veterans will be recognized by branch of service. Also, they will receive gifts and a luncheon for all will follow the celebration.

If veterans have a picture they would like included in the presentation, it can be sent or brought to Christian Life. Pictures must be received by Nov. 4 and be marked with the soldier's name, rank and branch of service. Christian Walker will be the special guest speaker and vocalist.

Missions conference

The annual missions conference for Calvary Bible Church, 3845 Buchanan Trail West, will be held Oct. 7 to 10 at the church with services Sunday at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m. (Sunday School) and 6:45 p.m. and at 6:45 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

The main speaker for the conference will be George Theis, former director of Word of Life, Schroon Lake, N.Y. Barb and Friends will conduct the children's ministry Sunday morning, evening and Wednesday evening.

Other missionaries will be sharing their ministries during the conference. They include Ron and Pam Morton, Nehmiah Ministries for Word of Life; Stephen and Catherine Tibberts and family, New Tribes Missions in Mexico; and Mihai and Ana Laura Bukur, who serve with Word of Life in the Baltics.

The public is cordially invited to attend.
