United soccer teams stay on a roll

Greencastle United Soccer Club had another successful weekend with all teams in action.

Meghan Hirneisen, Hope Boschert, and Jenay Faulkner scored goals in the U10 girls team 3-0 victory against the Hershey Rush. U12 girls also had a shut out with a 2-0 win over the Chambersburg Lightning team. Scoring for the U12 girls were Hannah Westly and Jane Herman. Goalie for U12 was Nicole Garns. The U18 Girls lost to the Susquehanna Lady Indians 5-0.

The Gettysburg-GYSC Red Rockets fell to the Greencastle United U9 boys 4-1. Scoring for United were Alex Foltyn, Bryan Gembe and Luke Herman with 2 goals. Greencastle's U10 team won a close match against the Chambersburg Charge by the score of 4-3. Austin Smith scored 2 goals and Ryan Yoder and Sam Parker added one each. Casey Hoover and Matthew Kline shared responsibilities as goalie. The Greencastle U12 boys trailed Elizabethtown- Rheem Raiders 3-1 at the half but came back to tie the game at 3-3. Scoring for Greencastle were Zach Faulkner, Justin Hovey, and Jake Crist. U14 boys beat the Harrisburg-CASA 93 team 6-0 on Saturday. Scoring for the U14 boys were David Spindler, Chad Sullivan, Corey Meyers with 1 goal each and Taylor Kirpatrick with 3 goals. Josh Spoonhour was goalie for the shut out. On Sunday the U14 team faced a tough Mechanicsburg-HMMS Strikers team and lost 2-1.

Corey Meyers scored the lone goal for Greencastle.
