WAYNESBORO - The Blue Devils on the gridiron kept their winning streak alive Friday night in their non-league game at rival Waynesboro. The Devils shut the Indians out with a 14-0 victory.

The game was low scoring as G-A's defense led by Matt Copenhaver did a fine job containing the Tribe backs, allowing just 48 yards on the ground and just 97 total yards. The Devils possessed the ball for much of the game running 51 total plays compared to Waynesboro's 36.

The first quarter consisted of few major threats until the closing minutes. There were four punts from three-and-out situations and two sacks on quarterback Terrell Rickard. Rusty Cordell started the closing drive of the quarter after bobbling the punt. However, the ball bounced right to him and he got away for a 31-yard return giving them the ball on the Indian 24.

Quarterback Adam Ritchey ran for an 11-yard touchdown putting the Devils on the board. The kick was no good and the Devils remained up 6-0. The action slowed back down after that as the next two possessions consisted of punts after three-and-outs.

Tyler Swope returned a G-A punt for 25 yards giving the Indians the ball at midfield. The Indians looked like they were going to score after Rickard took off down the sideline for a 28-yard run. However, the Devils' defense turned it on and forced a tackle in the backfield followed by three incompletions causing a turnover on downs.

Nathan Kauffman nearly intercepted Ritchey's next pass but he couldn't quite hold on. Ritchey and Cordell each had big rushes at the end of the half. The half ended on a Waynesboro sack leaving the Devils with a 6-0 lead.

The Devils added to their lead at the beginning of the second half. They got the ball back after another Waynesboro punt. Ritchey rushed for 18 more yards but was sacked on the following play. Dustin Barry made up for it with an 18-yard run. Ritchey moved the ball into Waynesboro territory after a pair of draws.

About halfway through the third, Barry found the endzone on a 25-yard rush past the Indian's defense. Ritchey dished it to Jordan Statler on the two-point conversion putting the Devils ahead 14-0.

Waynesboro did not pose much of a threat for much of the second half. The Indians were forced to punt on their next possession after a 12-yard run. G-A looked to score again on the next drive with big runs from Ritchey, Barry, and Stephon Walker. Ritchey followed with a 21-yard pass to Statler putting the Devils in scoring position. Waynesboro forced a fumble on the next play and recovered the ball stopping the Devil's drive. The Indians struggled again and were forced to punt after three-and-out.

The Indians got the ball back and showed signs of attack after Rickard found Swope and Aaron Beck for completions. Statler ended their final chance with an interception which seemed to seal the Devils' victory.

G-A went for 263 total yards on offense. Barry contributed 96 yards on 16 carries, while Ritchey ended with 68 rushing yards. Ritchey also added 23 yards in the air on two completions. All of Greencastle's 14 first downs came from rush attempts.

The Devils travel Friday to face Northern, the defending Mid Penn Colonial Division champs.
