Beulah M. Burkholder

Beulah M. (Statler) Burkholder, 87, Greencastle, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2007 in the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Dec. 12, 1919 in Marion, she was the daughter of the late Percy P. and Mary Elizabeth (Small) Statler.

She and her husband of 69 years, Glenn S. Burkholder, were married April 16, 1938 in Hagerstown, Md. They lived at their present home for 51 years and in the Coseytown and Mason Dixon areas early in their marriage.

Mrs. Burkholder was employed by the Greencastle- Antrim School District as a cafeteria worker for 20 years.

She enjoyed embroidery and was especially known for her hand-smocked baby dresses.

Mrs. Burkholder is a member of Grace Baptist Church, Waynesboro, where she worked with the babies and toddlers in the nursery.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Ruby E. Peterson, (wife of Ray), of Greencastle; a son, Charles Leon Burkholder (husband of Lois), of Rockaway Beach, Mo.; sisters Betty Walter of Greencastle and Judy Williams of Frederick, Md; grandchildren: Joy Geiman, Jonathan, Joel, James and Julie Peterson, Eastlyn Burkholder and Genie Vaughan; greatgrandchildren, Daniel, Elizabeth, Andrew, Matthew, Lauren, Joshua, Conner, Courtney, Sarah, Hannah, Rachel, Nadine, Lane, Jacob, Benjamin and Nathan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gene Statler Burkholder; a granddaughter, Andrea Jo Peterson; great-grandson, David S. Geiman; and siblings, Vera Ferren, Catherine Hicks, Harry Statler, Eugene Statler, Janet Garber and Patsy Brechbiel.

Services were held the morning of Monday, Sept. 17 in the Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. John Huff officiating.

Burial followed in Broadfording Cemetery, Hagerstown, Md.
