Six apply for township supervisor position
By PAT FRIDGEN Echo Pilot

Six Antrim Township residents submitted letters of interest for a short-term position on the board of supervisors.

Robert Schemmerling, Larry Eberly, Rodney Eberly, Dwight Thrush, John Alleman and Fred Young seek the spot vacated by Robert Whitmore, who resigned Aug. 28.

According to Renee Perrin, township secretary, Young's letter arrived after the noon deadline Friday, so it was up to the board to decide whether to consider him.

The board planned to make the appointment at the Sept. 11 meeting. The term runs until Dec. 31, 2007. The remaining two years of Whitmore's term will be filled in the general election in November.

The Republican and Democratic committees in Franklin County will each appoint a candidate to appear on the ballot. Their deadline is Sept. 17.
