Sarah Eadie to spend school year in China This academic year, Sarah Eadie, a student at Mercersburg Academy, will attend School Year Abroad's program in Beijing, China. She will study with approximately 60 other students in an academically rigorous high school and second-language immersion program while living with a Chinese family. School Year Abroad (SYA) was established in 1964, and since its inception has educated over 5,000 students. SYA's goal is to give 11th and 12th grade students a deep understanding of another people and another way of life through near-total immersion in a foreign culture while providing a high-level preparation for competitive American colleges and university. SYA currently has four schools: Beijing, China; Rennes, France; Viterbo, Italy; and Zaragoza, Spain. SYA is a consortium of 26 U.S. independent schools led by Phillips Academy (MA) Phillips Exeter Academy (NH); and St. Paul's School (NH). Students from any accredited U.S. independent or public secondary school may apply for admission.
