Old Home Week - A very special time
Editoria

Another Old Home Week has passed and from most indications to the delight of many. We think Philip Baer would be pleased. It continues to be a very special time - almost indescribable.

It's difficult to explain the aura surrounding Old Home Week. To those of us that grew up with it, it's an intangible that is priceless to us. To experience Old Home Week is to love it forever. It's so great that the Greencastle-Antrim community can pause at least every three years to welcome people back home, renew acquaintances and remember its history.

The fact that we still take time to do it in our fast-paced world today is a testament to its importance and longevity.

It's an event that makes Greencastle-Antrim very unique. Others have tried, but have never matched it. I hear of other communities having jubilees or fests. The Greencastle-Antrim community has always only needed Old Home Week. I've heard of other towns having Pride Days. Old Home Week is all about pride, and yet the word is rarely mentioned. It's just there. Old Home Week exudes pride, but it's never worn on the sleeves of those who love it.

Old Home Week doesn't make this community a neat place to live and return to; this community and its citizens, both current and past, make Old Home Week the special celebration that it is every three years.
