Community strength training program offered for women

Penn State Cooperative Extension will be conducting the StrongWomen Program in Franklin County starting on September 4, 2007.

This is a six week program geared for middle-aged to older women. The Strong Women program was developed by Miriam Nelson, PhD, an associate professor at the Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University. The StrongWomen Program is based upon years of research on how strength training and proper nutrition improve the health of women of all ages. The program was developed to help women increase their strength, bone density, balance

and energy and help them look and feel better.

Participants will meet two times a week for one hour sessions. There is a $45 fee for the six week program. Some weights will be provided. Classes will begin on Sept. 4 and will be held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Classes will be held at the Church of the Brethren, 260 South 4th Street, Chambersburg.
