Suns head for final 2007 home stand

The Hagerstown Suns' up and down season continued as the South Atlantic League baseball team pulled into Municipal Stadium for its final home stand of the 2007 season.

The Suns (22-40) committed four errors on their way to falling to the Lakewood BlueClaws 10-2 Sunday. Five unearned runs in the top of the fifth inning were more than enough to put the BlueClaws out of reach for Hagerstown, as Lakewood starter Antonio Bastardo was sparkling. Bastardo (9-0) pitched six innings, allowed only one unearned run, struck out ten hitters, and earned the win for Lakewood (30-30).

Two first-inning runs were enough for Hagerstown who tripped up Lakewood 3-1 on Saturday night at FirstEnergy Park. The Hagerstown first-inning consisted of two two-run doubles, one by Marcos Cabral and another by Trevor Lawhorn to give the Suns a 2-0 lead on Edgar Garcia and the BlueClaws.

Lakewood got a run in the first on a SAC fly by Adrian Cardenas to drive in Quintin Berry after the Lakewood CF led off the inning with a double off of Chris Lugo.

As soon as Lakewood took the first lead on Friday night, Hagerstown scored three in the top of the sixth to take the lead for good and the Suns went on for a 7-4 seriesopening victory. Hagerstown wins the secodn in a row after a fourgame losing streak.

The Suns salvaged a game at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium defeating the Delmarva Shorebirds 8-6 on Thursday night. The Suns' bullpen supplied five scoreless innings of relief as Coby Mavroulis picked up his first win of the season.

Hagerstown was defeated 4-2 by the Delmarva Shorebirds Wednesday from Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. The Suns once again did not have an answer for the

Birds pitching staff as they mustered just two-runs on seven hits.

The Suns were defeated 8-1 by the Delmarva Shorebirds Tuesday. Tim Bascom fired six shutout innings en route to the victory. The Suns were held to just five hits against the 'Birds' pitching staff. Tim Bascom picked up the win firing six innings, scattering three hits while striking out seven.
