Eagles take two from Cumberland Valley The Greencastle Eagles opened the 2007 football season by traveling to Cumberland Valley to face the Eagles-White on Saturday, Aug. 25. Battling oppressive heat, the jayvees kicked off the afternoon's action. Spencer Myers led the offense with 49 rushing yards in a 13 - 0 loss for Greencastle. Joseph Burns ran for 12 yards while Brady Klein carried for 4. Myers had 7 tackles for the Eagles followed by Burns with 3. Contributing 2 tackles each were Timothy Butts, Klein and Caleb Schaeffer. Adding a tackle a piece were Loren Ramer, Devin Harbaugh, Tanner Bain and Caleb Root. The mid-varsity Eagles downed CV 19 - 13. Kareem Aiken Jr. ran for 261 yards and 3 TD's. Cody Thompson ran for 39 yards and Sam Sprague punched in a PAT. Casey Bell and Aiken led the defensive effort with 4 tackles each. Graham Horst and Bailey Parker had 3 a piece while Jared Starliper, Adam DeYoung, Thompson and Wyatt Binkley each had 2. Rounding out the defensive effort with a tackle each were Sprague, Kyren Jefferson, Kyle Rider, Jeremy Anderson, Ryan Stine, Garrett Conner and Takoda Guyer. The varsity Eagles closed the day's action downing CV 13 - 6. Aaron Bumbaugh ran for 121 yards and 2 scores. Joshua Young had 37 yards rushing and Holden Baker added 9. Brady Keller hauled in a pass for a PAT and led the defense with 3 tackles. Baker, Stephen Ernharth and David Glass had 2 tackles each. Bumbaugh and Tyler Appleby scooped up CV fumbles. The defensive effort was complete with a tackle each from Tyler Jackson, Bumbaugh, Patrick Bontrager, Young, Cody Carbaugh, Trevor Spielman and Devin Rideout. The Eagles host Fayetteville Sunday, Sept. 2 at Kaley Field. Kick off for the jayvee contest will be 12:30 p.m. |
