G-ASD teaching roster is full

New teachers in the Greencastle-Antrim School District.
Students attending Greencastle Antrim schools this year will be seeing quite a few new faces, and they won't be of students. The school board on August 16 hired seven more teachers. Acouple others began teaching Monday and their contracts will be approved by the board at its first September meeting. Of the 25 new instructors, eight are long-term substitutes.

The resignations of Melissa Butz, High School Language Arts; Kaylia Heckman High School Technology Education; Lisa Lushbaugh, First Grade; and Matthew Smondrowski, Fifth Grade, were accepted. Paul Statler, Jr., Middle School Facilities Manager, also resigned.

The board then hired Lacey Fegan, Sixth Grade Long Term Sub; Mallory Pohl, Third Grade Long Term Sub; and Megan Tracey, First Grade, all with zero years of experience;

Megan Beam, High School Wellness, one year of experience; Carlos Flores, High School Science Long Term Sub, and Lee Smith, High School Technology Education, both with two years experience; and David Strausbaugh, High School Language Arts, six years experience.

Kathy Stoner Hamilton, Chambersburg, zero years experience, was hired as Secondary School Nurse. Cheryl Morgan was hired as Truant Officer at $25,000 for 185 days.

New staff

The following are the teachers hired for permanent positions.

Megan Beam, Chambersburg, Middle School Wellness. She has a BS in Health and Physical Education from Shepherd University, as well as certification in Safety Education/ Driver's Education.

Megan Connolley, Greencastle, High School Social Studies. She majored in History and minored in Geo-Environmental Studies at Shippensburg University.

Martha Fuchs, Chambersburg, High School Music. She is a graduate of Susquehanna University with a Music Education degree.

Susan Hirneisen, Greencastle, Third/Fourth Grade Loop. She has a BS in Elementary Education from Bucknell University.

Lauren Hood, Waynesboro, High School Latin. She graduated from Messiah College with a degree in History and Social Studies. She is Latin-certified.

Mary Becky Leonard, Chambersburg, Middle School Language Arts. She is a graduate of Shippensburg University with an Elementary Education degree.

Jennifer McCardell, Chambersburg, First Grade. She majored in Elementary Education and minored in Psychology at Shippensburg University.

Devin McCauley, Greencastle, High School Social Studies. A graduate of Millersville University, he majored in Social Studies and minored in Athletic Coaching.

Alexander Miller, Waynesboro, Primary/Elementary Art. He majored in Art Education at Shippensburg University.

Amber Miller, Waynesboro, Elementary Learning Support. She graduated from Messiah College with a degree in Elementary Education and is Special Educationcertified.

Mallory Pohl, Greencastle, Third Grade. She has a BS in Elementary Education from Shippensburg University. She minored in Reading.

Beth Powers, Greencastle, Middle School Language Arts. She has an English degree from Millersville University.

Eric Shaner, Chambersburg, Fifth Grade. He majored in Elementary Education and minored in Psychology at Shippensburg University.

Lee Smith, Chambersburg, High School Technology Education. He is a graduate of California University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Technology Education.

David Strausbaugh, Greencastle, High School Language Arts. He graduated from Shippensburg University with a major in Communications/ Journalism and a minor in English Literature. He is certified in Secondary English in Maryland and English and Journalism in Virginia.

James Thomas, Greencastle, High School Social Studies. He majored in History and minored in Political Science and Sociology at Mount St. Mary's University. He has a Master's Degree in Secondary Education from Mc- Daniel College.

Megan Tracey, Greencastle, First Grade. She graduated from Shippensburg University with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Early Childhood Education.

The following are the long term substitute teachers.

Donald Cordell, Greencastle, Elementary Wellness. He is a graduate of Shepherd College with a degree in Health and Physical Education.

Lacey Fegan, Chambersburg, Sixth Grade. She majored in Elementary Education and minored in Reading at Shippensburg University.

Carlos Zeke Flores, Hagerstown, High School Science. He has an Associate's Degree in Forest Technology from Allegany College, and a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Education K-12 from Shippensburg University. He is also certified in General Science and Earth and Space Science.

Christina Ingle, Fayetteville, Second Grade. She graduated from Wilson College with a degree Elementary Education.

Shari Martin, Greencastle, Second Grade. She has a BS in Elementary Education from Shippensburg University.

Rachel Myers, Greencastle, Elementary/Primary Music. She majored in Music Education at Messiah College

Mandi Shick, Greencastle, Fifth Grade. She has a BS in Elementary Education from Clarion University of Pennsylvania.

Karen Wickham, Mechanicsburg, First Grade. She graduated from Shippensburg University with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Reading.
