Betty L. Fry

Betty L. Fry, 79, of Dillsburg, died Aug. 13, 2007 at Hershey Medical Center.

Born Dec. 13, 1927 in Newville, she was the daughter of the late Bryan and Martha (Galbraith) Baker.

She was married to Dr. Robert Fry Dec. 29, 1947.

Mrs. Fry was a member of First United Methodist Church, Chambersburg.

She was a licensed practical nurse while putting her husband through medical school, and then became a mother and wife.

Mrs. Fry was a graduate of Newville High School and was a member of the first graduating class of nursing at Carlisle Hospital.

She is a member of the Fulton Chapter 519 Order of the Eastern Star and Grand Chapter of Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Fry had been the first female to exhibit the grand champion steer at the Farm Show two years in a row.

She is a member of the Franklin County Medical Society Alliance.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by their four children, Jim Fry of Scotland, Bill Fry of Hummelstown, Karen (wife of Mike) Corcoran of Dillsburg and Heidi (wife of Craig) Dunkle of Greencastle; five grandchildren, Amy Secrist, Matt Dunkle, Jamie Corcoran, Ryan Corcoran and Faith Dunkle; a sister, Mildred Albright of Newville; a brother, Dale Baker of Mechanicsburg.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Emma Baker and three brothers, Luther, Robert and William Baker.

Services were held the morning of Friday, Aug. 17 in Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Chambersburg, with the Pastor Jeff Dunkle officiating.

Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg.
