Fund Raisers Veteran's Memorial benefit Abenefit toward a Greencastle- Antrim Veteran's Memorial will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1 at the American Legion Picnic Grounds off Williamson Road. Each half hour from 1 to 6 p.m. $100 will be gived away. Food and refreshments will be served. The event, being held by the American Legion and VFW in Greencastle, is open to the public. Tickets are $10 per person ($5 for children) and may be purchased at either American Legion Post 373 or VFW Post 6319 in Greencastle. 5K Run and Walk Boy Scout Troop 99 in Greencastle will hold its first Almost Labor Day 5K Run and Walk Saturday, Sept. 1 as a fund-raiser for 20 Scouts to attend the Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico, one of the BSA's premier high adventure bases, in July of 2008. The race begins and ends at the Greencastle-Antrim High School rear parking lot, 300 S. Ridge Ave. Starting time is 8:30 a.m. Race day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Entry fee is $15 for entries postmarked by 8-18-07; $20 race day. Sponsors for the event are needed. The price is $4.25 per half chicken, prepared by BBQ by Ralph. To order in advance, call 328- 3583. All-you-can-eat breakfast Pleasant Hill United Brethren in Church Church, 3664 Coseytown Road, Greencastle, will hold an allyou can-eat breakfast from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25 to benefit a mission trip to Belize. The breakfast will feature made-to-order eggs, French toast, pancakes, bacon and sausage. The cost if $4.50 for adults and $2 for children 5 to 12. For information, call 762-2522 or 597-3737. |
