Roy Ambrose Hollinger Roy Ambrose Hollinger, 98, of Harrisburg, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007 at the Homeland Center in Harrisburg. Born March 1, 1909 in Shady Grove, he was the son of the late Mary Elizabeth (Roadcap) and William H. Hollinger. He was the last surviving member of the family of seven children.. He married Ada Elizabeth Ommert from Lemasters in 1934. She died in 1982 in Harrisburg. His second marriage to Anne M. (Lombard) Golob Hollinger was on Dec. 19, 1990. She died in August 2006. Mr. Hollinger served in the Navy during WW II. After returning to the states he was a contractor for building homes in the Harrisburg area. He was a self-employed realtor. He was a member of the First Church of the Brethren. Mr. Hollinger enjoyed playing golf, fishing and hunting. He was the last of his immediate family. He is survived by a step son, Joe Golob and his family of Mechanicsburg; and the following nieces and nephews, Franklin Hollinger of Harrisburg, Leighton Stansbury of Camp Hill, Betty Byers Cooper of Ellicott City, Md., Wayne Kell of Chambersburg, Gloria Garver Harp of Myersville, Md., Priscilla Kell Horst of Winter Park, Fla., H. Franklin Byers of Lancaster, R. Lee Byers of East Stroudsburg, Marjorie Hollinger Hinchberger of West Chester and John N. Snider of Mercersburg; and many grand nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held the afternoon of Wednesday, Aug. 15 at Lemasters Cemetery with the Rev. Belita Mitchell officiating. Arrangements were handled by the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, Harrisburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Church of the Brethren, 219 Hummel St., Harrisburg, PA 17104. |
