Elvin M. Hege Elvin M. Hege, 85, a resident of the Mennonite Fellowship Home, 12349 Huyett Lane Hagerstown, Md. died at 5:55 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007 in the home. Born Oct. 20, 1921 in Washington County, Md., he was the son of the late Henry E. and Naomi H. (Martin) Hege. He worked as a mason in home building. Mr. Hege was a member of the Hagerstown Mennonite Fellowship Church. His first wife, Dorothy Mae (Lehman) Hege died March 24, 1993. He and his second wife, Vera Horst Hege, a resident of the Mennonite Fellowship Home, were married on May 20, 1995. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Esther Showalter of Greencastle, Anna Lois Beverly of Eustis, Fla. and Mary Lou Landis of South Boston, Va.; three sons, Clair L. Hege of Stockbridge, Ga., Dr. Darvin L. Hege of Atlanta, Ga. and Joseph L. Hege of Oviedo, Fla.; two sisters, Retha Strite and Naomi Martin, both of Hagerstown; one brother, Omar Hege of Hagerstown; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rachel Wildeson, and a brother, Henry Hege. Services were held the morning of Friday, Aug. 10 in Mount Olive Mennonite Church, Maugansville, Md. with Ministers Ralph Horst, Nelson Weber and Daniel Halteman officiating. Burial was in the Hagerstown Mennonite Fellowship Church Cemetery. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be given to Hospice Of Washington County 747 Northern Ave. Hagerstown, Md. 21740 or to the Mennonite Fellowship Home 12349 Huyett Lane Hagerstown, Md. 21740.
