'For the Love of Flowers' picks winners

The Old Home Week Flower Show "For the Love of Flowers" was held in the First United Methodist Church on Aug. 6 and 7. The event was sponsored by the Greencastle-Lioness Club and chaired by Dolly Shoemaker and Shirley Freeman.

Winners in the Hanging Baskets category were: Dorothy Schroyer, first and second place and Gloria Kimmel, third place.

Potted Plant winners were Patty Hegedus, Helen Adams, Betty Myers, Sherry Mellott, Nancy Rodgers and Dorothy Schroyer, first place; Dorothy Schroyer, Barb Benhardt, Nancy Rodgers, Betty Myers and Annabelle Henry, second place; and Betty Myers and Nancy Rodgers, third place.

Miniature Flower winners were: Marie Eshleman, Jane Walker McCutcheon and Annabelle Henry with two entries, first place; Margaret Walker Pfeiffer, Kate Kendle and Annabelle Henry, second place and Annabelle Henry and Margaret Walker Pfeiffer, third place.

Honorable Mention went to Margaret Walker Pfeiffer.

In the Horticulture Division, first place winners were: Karen Hudson, Betty Myers, Sherry Mellott and Grace Phinicie; Patty Hegedus with three entries; Charlotte Lutz, Marie Eshleman with four entries, Joe Cunningham with two entries and Donna Myers.

Second place winners were: Betty Myers, Patty Hegedus with two entries; Joe Cunningham, Marie Eshleman with two entries, Donna Myers, Diane Myers and Sherry Mellott.

Third place winners were: Patty Hegedus, Debbie Cunningham and Joe Cunningham with three entries.

"Dinner Anyone" winners were Gloria Kimmel, first place; Nancy Rodgers, second; Sally Bohn, third; and Karen Hudson and Kate Kendle, Honorable Mention.

"Welcome Home" door arrangement winners were: Lynda Beckwith, first place; Donna Miller, second and Nancy Smith, third.

Other Design arrangements winners were: Linda Thomas, Diane Myers, Waylon Smith, Marcie Zimmerman and Kate Kendle, first place; Nancy Rodgers, Kyle Smith, Tonya Schroyer, Margaret Walker Pfeiffer, Diane Myers and Nancy Smith, second place; and Arys O'Brien, Linda Thomas, Bryon Smith and Chris Johnston, third place.

The Grand First Prize for Best of Show was won by Waylon Smith.

The Grand Second Price for the Second Best of Show was won by Diane Myers with Honorable Mention going to Heidi Coble.
