Constestants announced for Fair Queen and Little Miss

WILLIAMSON - The Franklin County Fair Queen and Little Miss Contests will be held Monday, Aug. 20, on the fair grounds at the Chambersburg Rod and Gun Club.
The Little Miss Contest will start at 6:30 p.m. and the Fair Queen Contest will start at 8 p.m. There will be 15 little girls competing for the title of Little Miss and seven young ladies competing for the title of Fair Queen.
The contestants for the 2007 Franklin County Fair Queen contest are as follows:
Jesse Kline, 16, is from Chambersburg. She is a student at Chambersburg Area Senior High School where she is an honor roll student. She would like to pursue a career in Dairy Genetics/Ag Business. She is very active in 4-H and FFA. She is a member of the Eastern 4-H Dairy Club and is a teen leader at the Franklin County Ag. Learning Center. She is active in dairy judging where she recently placed fourth individual at the Penn State Dairy Judging Contest. She is also active in her youth group. Her hobbies include singing and showing and judging dairy cattle. She currently has a job working on a local dairy farm.

Angel Beaver, 16, is from Greencastle. She is a student at James Buchanan High School where she is a member of the art club. She would like to continue her education to become a pediatrician. She is a member of the Quincy Clovers 4-H Club where she had entered her projects at the Franklin County Fair and won best of the show. She has won the presidential award for gym. She attends Grace Bible Church. Her hobbies are making crafts.
Bindy Colleen Boyer, 22, is from Greencastle. She is a 2005 graduate from Greencastle- Antrim High School where she was an honor roll student. She has completed two years at Hagerstown Community College and is transferring to Shippensburg University majoring in Elementary Education. She is involved in a woman's softball league where she is the pitcher and was honored to receive the Most Valuable Player Award. She holds down a full time job as well as another part time job. Her hobbies include hunting, swimming, painting, drawing, sports and helping on a friend's farm.

Joy Johanna Prescott Kiefer, 17, is from Fayetteville. She is a student at Chambersburg Area Senior High School. She is a distinguished honor roll student. She would like to pursue a career in art education but also is interested in biochemical engineering and science/ media education. She is very interested in art and has taken art classes: drawing, painting, pottery, photography and video editing. She has received the art achievement award and several ribbons from exhibiting her photography at the Franklin County Fair. She is also a volunteer at Pregnancy Ministries and at Arts Express in Shakespearian Drama, and is a children's leader at church. Her hobbies are photography, pottery, singing, dancing and she is an avid skier. She is currently pursuing a job as a freelance photographer at a local business.
Alicia Carey, 20, is from Chambersburg. She is a graduate of Cumberland Valley Christian School and is currently a student at Penn State Mont Alto where she is on the Dean's list. She is pursuing a career in nursing and plans to specialize in acute medical care. As a senior at Cumberland Valley Christian School, she was salutatorian, a member of the national honor society and was selected into the Who's Who Among American High School Students. She has been active in 4-H Dairy winning several awards. She was the 2004-2005 Franklin County Dairy Princess. She volunteers as an EMT, helps at the nursery in her church, helps at a local dairy farm, has a part time job and still finds time to take classes for modeling and acting. Her hobbies include showing cows, playing soccer, working out, playing ultimate frisby, swimming, four-wheeling and snowboarding.

Sarah Jane Hess, 18, is from Waynesboro. She is a graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School where she was on the national honor roll and a member of the National Honor Society. She will be attending Penn State Mont Alto pursuing a career with a Master's Degree in occupational therapy. She was the recipient of the 2007 Mid Penn Sportsmanship Award, Waynesboro Lions Club Scholarship, Ausherman Scholarship and also Who's Who Among American High School Students. She has also been active in the Quincy Washington 4-H Dairy Club and 4-H Executive Council. She has been employed at a local dairy farm since she was 12. Her hobbies are showing cows, activities with her 4-H group and spending time with her friends and family.

Katy Elizabeth Mitchell, 17, is from Fort Loudon. She is a student at James Buchanan High School where she is an honor roll student and a member of the National Honor Society. She would like to attend college pursuing a career working outdoors possibly as a recreational part manager, a park ranger or a forester. She is actively involved with Tuscarora Wildlife Educational Project with honors in their art show and has been a camp counselor. She has been a volunteer for the Chambersburg Council for the Arts, Ice Fest, Franklin County United Way, Franklin County Therapeutic Riding Center and Camp Sinoquippe. She has received various awards at both the Shippensburg and Franklin County Fairs. She also enjoys dancing in her spare time and has earned the rank of purple belt in Tae- Kwon-Do. Her hobbies are hunting, fishing, nature walking, drawing and just being outdoors enjoying nature.
The Franklin County Fair Little Miss contestants are as follows:
Corrine Statler, 8, is from Greencastle. She will be attending Greencastle- Antrim Elementary School. She enjoys horse back riding, coloring, crafts, dance, softball, singing, church and going to tractor pulls.
Elizabeth Markley, 8, is from Greencastle. She will be attending Shalom Christian Academy. She enjoys singing at church and at Christmas singing at Quincy Home, swimming, piano, arts, crafts and songwriting.
Alyssa Danielle Gaus, 6, is from Greencastle. She will be attending Greencastle- Antrim Primary School. She enjoys Bible School, dance classes, school, playing with friends and helping her mom with her siblings; twins, and a brother and sister.
Abby Lynn Reitz, 8, is from Greencastle. She will be attending Greencastle-Antrim Elementary School. She enjoys softball, Bible Release, cheerleading, reading, scrap booking and playing with her friends.
