Fast-pitch softball clinics

The Mason Dixon Blaze fast-pitch softball organization is conducting a softball clinic from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday Aug. 7 and 8 at the Greencastle-Antrim Baseball/ Softball complex.

The cost of the clinic is $40 per player and the instructors will focus on hitting and throwing fundamentals. The clinic will be conducted by Mason Dixon Blaze managers and coaches and will include hitting instructor Tom Petroff.

The Blaze organization will also hold a pitching clinic from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9 for beginning/intermediate pitchers. The cost of the pitching clinic will be $15 per player and will be held at the Greencastle-Antrim Baseball/Softball complex. Bob Kline will be the lead instructor.

Fred Kaley Memorial 5K

The 23rd annual Fred Kaley Memorial 5K Run-Walk will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4 on the Greencastle-Antrim schools campus.

Hosted by the Greencastle Flyers, the event will be run in conjunction with the 36th triennial Old Home Week celebration.

The event starts and ends on the outdoor track in the rear of the high school and follows nearby town streets. Trophies will be presented to overall male and female winners and age group winners.

Registration is $15 before July 21 and $20 after that date. Pre-registrants are guaranteed a short-sleeved T-shirt.
