Accused burglars waive preliminary hearing

Two Greencastle residents who were part of a trio of burglars operating in Pennsylvania and Maryland last spring waived their preliminary hearings July 24,

Joshua Lance Ingream, 21, and Erica Marie Lynch, 19, both of 128 S. Jefferson St., Apt. A, were arrested in April on charges of burglary, theft by unlawful taking, criminal attempt of theft and criminal mischief.

Police report that the two, along with James Edward Byrd, Jr., 43, Chambersburg, entered several Greencastle businesses in March. They allegedly used bricks to smash windows and then stole cigarettes, prepaid cellphones and video games. They reportedly sold the cigarettes at a bar in Hagerstown so they could purchase crack cocaine.

They were apprehended March 28 when the owner of Molly Pitcher Mini Mart caught them in the act. He had been burglarized three times earlier in the month by the trio, and this time met Lynch inside with a gun. He held her at bay until Pennsylvania State Police arrived. She told police Byrd threw a rock through the glass door so she could gain entrance.

Byrd was sentenced to state prison in June. The term was three years and nine months to 20 years.

Mandatory arraignments for Ingream and Lynch were set for Sept. 5 in Franklin County Central Court.
