John M. Anderson
John M. Anderson, 88, of 5554 Buchanan Trail West, Greencastle, died at 12:34 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2007 in the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born July 16, 1919 at Irwinton Mill in Montgomery Township, he was the son of the late Chester A. and Laura V. (Gift) Anderson.
He and his wife, Kathryn A. (Davis) Anderson, were married Feb. 15, 1941 in Hagerstown, Md. She died Nov. 21, 1987.
Mr. Anderson was a member and had served as a deacon at the St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Upton.
He farmed for nearly 35 years near Upton and retired after 10 years from the Greencastle- Antrim School District, where he worked in maintenance.
Mr. Anderson attended the Lemasters High School.
He enjoyed fishing and country music.
He is survived by two daughters, Margaret Lancaster of Tampa, Fla. and Nancy McKee of Zullinger; one son, John D. Anderson of Greencastle; six half sisters, H. Pauline Harmon of Harrytown, Catherine Stouffer of Waynesboro, Carrie L. Blair and Ruth V. Miller, both of Greencastle, Dorothy Rebok of Chambersburg and Elener Stoner of Mercersburg; three half brothers, Rollie C. Anderson of Greencastle, Ray A. Anderson of Chambersburg and Harry A. Anderson of Mercersburg; four grandchildren; and four great granddaughters
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a step mother Mabel Diffenderfer; a brother, Samuel E. Anderson; and two infant siblings.
Services will be held the morning of Tuesday, July 24, in the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Dennis L. Ritchey officiating.
Burial was be in the Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
