Mabel G. Gearhart Mabel G. (Rotz) Gearhart, 84, a resident of the Falling Spring Nursing And Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, for the last month and formerly of Williamson Road, Greencastle, died at 2:38 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2007 in the nursing center. She had been in declining health the past six months. Born June 9, 1922 in St. Thomas, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Mary (Musselman) Rotz. Mrs. Gearhart worked for the former Stanley Co., Chambersburg, and the former GEM Garment, Greencastle. She was a member of the Ebenezer "Guitners" United Brethren Church near Greencastle, where she also was a member of the Women's Missionary Society. Mrs. Gearhart had been a member of the Greencastle TOPS organization. She and her husband, James L. "Jim" Gearhart, were married Feb. 15, 1941. He died July 29, 2002. She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Ann (wife of Ray) Heckman of Mercersburg, Nancy Lee (wife of Harry) Shipley of Chambersburg and Judith I. (wife of Martin) Kelly of Claysburg; two sisters, Agnes Shatzer of Virginia and Irene Newman of Chambersburg; eight grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Rotz, and a sister, Anna Dentler. Services were held the morning of Friday, June 8, in the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Richard Mose and Rev. Eric Beck officiating. Burial was in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 201 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.
