William C. Woller

William Charles Woller, 88, of 9035 Rabbit Road North, Greencastle, died at 3:15 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2007 in Quincy Village, Quincy, where he was a resident for the past two days. He had been in declining health for the last three years.

Born Sept. 22, 1918 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Herman and Nellie (Hill) Woller.

In his earlier years he worked at the Pittsburgh Gage and Supply Co. He then worked at Frick Co. in Waynesboro for 36 years, retiring in 1981.

Mr. Woller was a 1936 graduate of the Westinghouse High School, Pittsburgh. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in November 1940 and was a veteran of World War II having served in the European and Pacific Theaters of Operation. He served in the 298th military police company and was honorably discharged in December 1945.

He was a former member of the St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Upton, and was a member of the former Upton Lions Club.

Mr. Woller enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.

He and his wife, Ruth Marie (Harbaugh) Woller were married May 3, 1943 in Hagerstown.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Patricia Ann (wife of William) Fitz of Greencastle, and a son, Dennis (husband of Patsy) Woller of Big Pool, Md.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 14 in the Harbaugh Church Cemetery near Waynesboro with Pastor Dennis Sproull officiating.

Military graveside honors will be provided by the Chambersburg V.F.W. Post 1599 Honor Guard.

There will be no public viewing.

The family requests the omission of flowers and memorial contributions be made in his memory to the Hospice Of The Good Shepherd 2700 Luther Dr. Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Arrangements were handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home, Greencastle.
